gudrun

My name is Guðrún Gísladóttir. I am born and raised in Iceland and moved to Sweden after graduating from The Commercial College of Iceland. I studied Scandinavian Studies, Linguistics and Literature at the University in Lund and later the University in Tórshavn, in the Faroe Islands.

The Photographer - I got my first own camera when I was eleven years old – a Kodak Instamatic, before that I used my parents old Box Camera. When I started using SLRs, my first one was a Konica and the second one was the first amateur SLR with a motor, the Konica FS1. It lasted for 20 years and that is when I chose Nikon, a good choice as it happens.

The Translator - I started translating and interpreting while at Uni and have continued translating ever since, on a part time basis. Icelandic is my mother tongue, and apart from English, I am fluent in all the languages of the North Germanic Language Family.

The Wool Worker - Knitted my first stitches when I was 8 years old, and have kept the needles ticking ever since. Mostly for family and friends, but while at University, I started knitting and selling Icelandic sweaters. News travelled fast and there was always a waiting list back then and even now, especially during the winter.
